PRICE - The primary suspect is in prison, but the family of homicide victim Crystal Bradley say they still want justice.
"The family needs closure," said Bradley's grandmother, Patricia Jefrey. "It's not a done deal. Somebody killed her. Somebody should pay."
Almost 3 1/2 years after Bradley died, the detective on the case agreed the killer needs to be prosecuted. Last week, he issued a new request to the public for any tips about what happened to Bradley.
"Any kind of information they've seen or heard since that evening, if they'd contact us, that would be awesome," said Carbon County sheriff's Lt. Tom Stefanoff.
Stefanoff said he met Wednesday with the Utah Attorney General's Office to discuss Bradley. Stefanoff declined to disclose details of the meeting, but said investigators are waiting for the results of additional forensic testing that may lead to criminal charges.
Bradley was a 27-year-old mother and a nursing student at the College of Eastern Utah. Her body was found the morning of April 30, 2005, outside her home in a trailer court in Wellington. Bradley had stab wounds on her head and neck.
From the start, the main suspect has been husband Dale B. Bradley, 40. Crystal Bradley's mother, Joyce Wilson, said her daughter was planning to leave Dale Bradley and take her three children with her. "I have no doubt in my mind [Dale Bradley killed my daughter]," Joyce Wilson said.
Dale Bradley has denied he killed his wife. A few days after the homicide, Dale BradÂley, speaking through one of his brothers, claimed he was asleep when the killing occurred. His lawyer said Dale Bradley gave detectives an interview.
About five months after Crystal Bradley's death, Salt Lake County prosectors filed charges against Dale Bradley in a different case - the 1991 killing of Kennecott Copper guard Bryan Patrick Ruff.
Testimony offered in that case claimed Ruff was having an affair with Bradley's then-wife. Bradley eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter and kidnapping in the Ruff killing, yet maintained to the judge he was innocent. The judge sentenced Bradley to consecutive terms of two to 20 years in prison.
Crystal Bradley's mother and grandmother feel the case has been given a low priority because Dale Bradley is already in prison.
Jefrey also is angry Dale Bradley's family has custody of Crystal Bradley's children, including one child she had from a previous relationship.
"I'm not real happy with the state of Utah. Period," Jefrey said.
Anyone with information about Crystal Bradley's death can contact the Carbon County Sheriff's Office at 435-636-0893. A $5,000 reward has been offered for an arrest and conviction in the case.
