Shaky Smithson followed up one strong performance on special teams with another Saturday, returning a punt 73 yards in the third quarter to help the Utes beat New Mexico 56-14.

Smithson returned a punt of 77 yards in the Utes' win over UNLV a week ago.

"The coaches are making great calls and my teammates are making great blocks. All I did was make a couple guys miss," Smithson said.

Smithson finished with four punt returns for 140 yards and returned two kickoffs for 83 yards.

"Shaky is a weapon for us now," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said.

"He is getting our offense set up in good field position and making good decisions and I couldn't be prouder of what Shaky has done."
