Utah kicker Joe Phillips had a busy day handling punting, kickoff and place-kicking duties during Saturday's win at San Diego State. He was recognized for his efforts by earning MWC Player of the Week honors. Phillips made a 32-yard field goal and placed his first collegiate punt attempt at the San Diego State 2-yard line. Phillips averaged 35 yards a punt with just one of the five punts returned, but for no gain. He also averaged 60 yards on his kickoffs. Phillips handled all the duties after punter Sean Sellwood had a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown at Notre Dame. He had another blocked and returned for a touchdown in the Utes' 38-10 win over UNLV earlier in the year.
