Here's a guest post from Daisy Blake, an arts writer for our sister publication, IN UTAH THIS WEEK:
"The Very BEaST of SB Dance" has two shows left at the Rose Wagner Blackbox Theatre tonight, Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 at 8 p.m. The show contains ten excepts from hour long works from SB Dance's first decade.
The excerpts are eclectic, but what they have in common is jaw-dropping performances across the board, and staggering beauty combined with a pleasing sense of playfulness. I particularly enjoyed the performances by Juan Aldape in "The Bucket," Nathan Shaw and Jenny Larsen in "Specimen," and Stevan Novakovich in "Carni Acts." The production values are stunning, and overall, the work is confident, innovative and edgy.
Tickets, $15, at 801-355-ARTS or http://www.arttix.org.
