After a game in which BYU's special teams cost the Cougars a chance at a victory over TCU, a BYU player has been named the FBS Independent Special Teams Player of the Week. Go figure. BYUs JD Falslev is the recipient of this week's award, after he returned a punt 67 yards for a touchdown against the Frogs. Notre Dame's Michael Floyd is the offensive player of the week and the Irish's Manti Te'o is the defensive player of the week. Of course, Te'o is a former BYU recruit. A sophomore from Logan, Falslev had BYU's first punt return TD since Nov. 9, 2006, a span of 64 games. There's no BYU football news conference today, because the Cougars have a bye this week before playing host to Idaho on Nov. 12. Here's more on BYU's schedule the rest of the year; As you can see, the Cougars play only two games in November, and have just three games in the next 33 days. It was a quiet weekend on the conference realignment front. However, here's a CBS Sports blog about the Big 12 possibly adding another team along with West Virginia here shortly.——————— BYU announced this morning that the only football availability for the media all week is Tuesday after practice. And BYU's men's basketball team doesn't have another exhibition game until Friday. With that in mind, blog posts here are going to be rather sparse most of the week as I take a little bit of time off as well.
