Utah lineman Tony Bergstrom, who participated in the recent NFL combine along with fellow lineman John Cullen and defensive end Derrick Shelby, left the event feeling good about his performance. As for the experience itself, well, that wasn't so thrilling in itself. "It was the strangest thing you'll ever go through," Bergstrom said. "You go through all these drills, interviews, medical exams and everything and have you walking around in nothing but your panties on a stage. The days get long. I think they just do it to mess with you before you do the drills." The 6-foot-5, 313-pound Bergstrom ripped off 32 reps on the 225-pound bench press and ran a 5.27 in the 40, which is considered very good for a lineman. He also made it through all those medical exams ok, although he admits he did lose a little dignity behind the experience. "They have you on all these tables with guys grabbing one limb and another, there were about eight doctors," he said. "Then they have another guy watching your face to see if you wince in pain, referring to you as 'the subject.' Like, 'the subject showed no signs of pain.' It was just weird." Bergstrom is considered a solid third-round pick. Cullen, who had one of the best times in the 20-yard shuttle out of the offensive linemen, is predicted to go in the 4-through-7 round. Shelby, also rated as a possible 4-through-7th round pick, had one of the best performances in the vertical jump out of the defensive linemen with a leap 35.5 inches. Bergstrom said he was going to go to Arizona to train until Utah's pro day which is later this month, but has decided to stick around Salt Lake City to work out. He said he didn't get a good feel for one team or another during the interview process. "You talk with all of them and they all tell you they want you," he said. "I tell them, 'So why don't you draft me.'" - Lya Wodraska
