The BYU Cougars were shut out of the NFL Draft for the second straight year on Saturday, as no BYU products were selected in the seven rounds. It was just the third time since 1965 that no BYU players were taken. Shortly after the draft concluded, however, agents began letting The Tribune know which teams BYU's top seniors will be signing free-agent deals with. Left tackle Matt Reynolds has signed with the Carolina Panthers. Center Terence Brown has signed with the Miami Dolphins. Defensive tackle Hebron "Loni" Fangupo was close to signing with the Houston Texans, but his agent Brian Anderson said around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night that the deal wasn't quite done. Reynolds and Fangupo, who only played a year at BYU after transferring from USC, were said to be the Cougars' best prospects for the draft. The news was especially disappointing for Reynolds, who was projected by some as an early-round pick after his junior season. He returned from shoulder surgery for his senior year, but evidently plummeted in the eyes of NFL scouts. Both Reynolds and Fangupo were listed Saturday night among Pro Football Weekly's "top undrafted players" along with Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore. BYU's Brown made huge strides between the end of the season and BYU's Pro Day, dropping about 25 pounds, and tweeted out this Saturday night after being picked up by Miami: "Thank you Miami Dolphins. I got my shot, now it's time for more hard work!"
