After several hard days of work, the Utes went light in Friday afternoon's practice, working out for a little more than an hour. "We took the pads off which is about the right time to do that and give them a little bit of a relief from the physicality," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said. "Hopefully they'll be fresh and ready and come back tomorrow and get after it." Utah corner Mo Lee sat out most of the practice with a mild hamstring strain. Utah's coaches have pushed the players hard this week and Whittingham has been happy with the way they've responded. "They've had a lot of energy and passion," he said. One of the guys getting accustomed to the physicality of camp again is tight end Kendrick Moeai. The senior missed spring ball while rehabbing from shoulder surgery. "Midway through camp, we are all obviously sore," he said. "It's a grind but it's going good." He is competing with Dallin Rogers, Jake Murphy, Westlee Tonga and David Rolf for playing time. Right now there is little separation among the tight ends. "Every day one does something really good," Whittingham said. "They are playing consistent football and we have to find a way to utilize them." Moeai had 15 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown last year.
