Utah freshman running back Jarrell Oliver has been making some nice moves in practice. Now he is making some moves on the depth chart. Oliver, a 5-foot-8, 210-pound product out of Sugar Land, Texas, is pushing junior college transfer Kelvin York for the backup running back spot. "They are neck and neck," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said. At 5-foot-11, 223-pounds, York has a more physical presence, but Oliver has shown good instinct with the ball. "He has great vision and is a good north to south runner," Whittingham said. "There is no wasted movement, he is a very efficient runner." Saturday's scrimmage will feature mainly the younger players to give the veterans some rest, Whittingham said. The Utes ran through almost 35 plays Friday morning and he feels that was enough. Friday afternoon's practice was a short one. Whittingham said he wanted to make sure the main contributors were fresh when the Utes go into game mode Monday. "We've had several live sessions throughout camp to prepare us for the season," he said.
