Why are there so many people in Utah who believe they have the right to express their opinions, but the LDS Church and its members do not? Whenever the church makes a statement (LDS backs amendment against gay marriage, July 8), the haters step forth with a booming voice, whip in hand, to chastise them. More often than not, they do it with twisted or uneducated facts.

Why do they chastise? Why don't they set their fear and anger aside and respect the rights of all to freely express their views? And, too, stop and look at all the good the LDS Church has done for Utah, the United States and around the world. They are great humanitarians.
