The clash of metal on metal marked Saturday's first-ever sword competition at Liberty Park between the United Clans Swordsman Association and the True Edge Academy of Swordsmanship.

Both groups are members of the national nonprofit Historical European Martial Arts Alliance. Techniques taught include Long sword, Short Sword and buckler, Dagger, Pole hammer and unarmed fighting and defense.

The UCSA has classes on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the east side of Liberty Park by the stone pillars. True Edge Academy has classes on Tuesday's, Thursdays, and Saturdays in Salt Lake, Lehi and Provo.
