Will the proponents of the proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage please explain in concrete terms how, if the amendment passes, our marriage will be stronger in Utah than it would be in, say, Vermont? What exactly is the promised benefit? And if it comes at the price of denigrating and discriminating against the homosexual members of our society - as the amendment plainly does - on what moral basis can it possibly be justified?
