No one was hurt when a small plane crashed Saturday in the San Rafeal Desert.

Two men from Scottsdale, Ariz. took off in a Cessna 182 from the Hidden Splendor air strip in Emery County. But during takeoff, the plane was caught in a crosswind, according to the Emery County Sheriff's Office.

The plane clipped one of its wings and was thrown off the edge of a deep wash. The crash was reported at 1:36 p.m.

The men in the plane, ages 55 and 60, were not hurt. They have been visiting remote airstrips in the region, according to the sheriff's office.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.
