Utah's dominating win over the Wildcats gave the Utes plenty of notes for the record book. Among the highlights was Utah's 70 points, tying for the 10th highest single-game total in school history. The last time Utah scored 70 points was a 82-6 win over UTEP in 1973.

With the 30-26 win over Utah State last week, Utah has combined for more than 100 points in its first two games for just the second time in school history. The other time came in 1973, when Utah opened with a 29-22 loss at Texas Tech and the win over UTEP.

The defense also earned a notable mark, recording seven sacks, the most since it had eight against Alabama in 2008.

Back in SLC

Former Utah running back Jamal Anderson, who served as an analyst for the Pac-12 Networks for Saturday's game, liked the potential he saw in the Utes, particularly quarterback Travis Wilson.

"It is encouraging how much he has improved since last year and to see him step up last week and make those plays," Anderson said. "When you have guys like [Dres] Anderson, [Anthony] Denham, [Jake] Murphy and a good offensive line and a guy who can get them the ball, I like Utah's chances against a lot of Pac-12 teams this year."

Anderson said he hadn't seen the Utes play in person in two years. He rushed for 958 yards as a senior in 1993 before going on to an eight-year career in the NFL.

"It's good to be back," he said. "Working for the Pac-12 is a great opportunity."

New network

Utah athletic director Chris Hill is excited that the Pac-12 Networks reached an agreement with AT&T U-verse, which will televise league events in the Los Angeles and Bay Area.

Both areas are priorities in recruiting, so the coverage will help the Utes with exposure to recruits and added revenue.

"Every little bit helps in California," Hill said. "We keep chipping away at it."

Under the agreement, AT&T will provide the league with wireless communication services and students at league member schools will receive discounts. The sponsorship includes marketing rights at all athletic events including Pac-12 championships.

Wildcats again?

Hill said he would consider scheduling the Wildcats in the future because doing so gives the Utes a convenient opponent and pleases state officials. The Utes paid Weber State $400,000 for Saturday's game.

"A lot of the legislators I talk to like the idea of the money staying in-state," he said.

New lineup

Freshman Isaac Asiata got the start at right tackle in place of sophomore Siaosi Aiono, who remained on the sideline with a foot injury.

Asiata is the cousin of former Utah backs Matt Asiata and Shawn Asiata.
