Orem • Olympus guard Jake Lindsey fell away and made the 10-foot jumper, the ball dropping through the net as the whistle blew. He spun a half-turn and unleashed a primal celebration, pumping his fist down through the air.

The shot and the subsequent free throw put Olympus up by nine points midway through the fourth. Though it did not prove to be the final dagger in upstart Mountain View, what it symbolized did: Lindsey, refusing to be denied.

An unstoppable fourth quarter from Lindsey brought Olympus back from a fourth-quarter deficit to win, 73-64, keeping the Titans in the Region 7 driver's seat.

"I got an open 3 and then after that, my teammates found me for some good looks," said Lindsey, who finished with 31 points. "It just turned out I had a big fourth quarter."

Mountain View fell behind early but, aided by 27 points from Ryan Warner, the Bruins led heading into the fourth quarter. That's when Olympus coach Matt Barnes took his team aside and breathed life into his players.

"Coach Barnes told us at the beginning of the fourth quarter that we needed a game like this," Lindsey said. "We hadn't been in a game like this. We hadn't been in that situation before and he told us we were going to win. We all believed him."

The Bruins, who finished under .500 last year, were one quarter away from putting a stamp on one of the biggest weeks in recent program history. They beat preseason region favorite Orem on Tuesday and Olympus presented another rung to climb on a turnaround that has them among the Class 4A contenders.

But Lindsey was too much. With the help of Alex Williams, who had 21 points, he spun and shot Olympus into the lead for good and proved the Titans will be hard to topple in Region 7.

"It was an awesome atmosphere," Lindsey said. "Their student section was great. Those five [Mountain View] seniors that play together are really well-coached and they play hard. They're a good team. It was a fun game to play in."
