Head coach Kyle Whittingham told The Tribune on Tuesday that the Utes will be without defensive back Hipolito Corporan and running back Jarrell Oliver this fall.

Their decisions to transfer were made "about a month ago," he said. Corporan will go to Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas, and Oliver is expected to transfer closer to home after finishing his degree at the U.

Both players faced an uphill battle to see the field soon in Salt Lake City.

Corporan came to the U. as a cornerback but was moved to safety toward the end of Utah's spring camp. He played in 10 games in 2010 as a true freshman and recorded five tackles.

Oliver, a native of Sugar Land, Texas, broke his foot during the 2012 season and after a lengthy rehab was likely to find himself behind Bubba Poole, Lucky Radley, Devontae Booker and Troy McCormick on the running back depth chart.
