Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson is in Australia this week to speak about climate change. He is a featured speaker at the Business and Sustainability Summit 2005 in Melbourne. An agenda says the mayor will speak about "driving change - the benefits of leading on sustainability and the battle against climate change." He will give the presentation he made in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last December. There, he spoke about Salt Lake City's work on reducing greenhouse-gas emissions at a U.N. conference on the Kyoto Protocol. One of the organizers of the Australian conference heard Anderson speak in Argentina and invited him to Melbourne. This week's conference addresses the impact of climate change on Australia's development. Environment Business Australia, which represents the environment and sustainability industry, organized the summit. Duncan Moench, Anderson's spokesman, said Environment Business Australia is paying for Anderson's flight. The mayor is taking three days off to travel in Australia and will pay for that himself. - Heather May
