Trisha Stubbs

ST. GEORGE - Two people were officially charged Friday with the murder of 20-year-old Trisha Stubbs, whose body was found Jan. 7 off a dirt road east of Toquerville in Washington County.

Tina Eileen Roberts, 34, and Kyle Sheldon Jensen, 20, were each charged with first-degree felony murder, first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.

Both suspects were arrested Thursday and booked into the county's Purgatory Correctional Facility.

At their initial appearance Friday in 5th District Court in St. George via teleconferencing from the jail, Judge Eric Ludlow set bail for each defendant at $1 million cash only and assigned public defender Douglas Terry as lawyer for both.

Terry asked that his clients be forbidden from discussing the case with anyone other than himself or his representative, including Correction officials, which Ludlow granted.

Ludlow said a preliminary hearing date would be scheduled within 10 days.

A third suspect in the murder, Jack Daniel Brown, will have a court appearance on Tuesday in Las Vegas on unrelated charges. He was arrested Wednesday.

Brown faces similar charges once back in Utah in connection with the shooting death of Stubbs whose body was found several hundred yards off a dirt road by people riding all-terrain vehicles.

County Attorney Brock Belnap said a juvenile arrested in connection with the killing on Thursday probably will have a petition hearing in Washington County's juvenile court next week.

The name, gender and age of the juvenile is being withheld, as are many details connected to the crime.

Belnap said the case is still being investigated and evidence is still being collected.
