Fire crews battled and put out a fire at a plant nursery in Copperton Sunday evening.

A collection of planter pots, soil, wood chips and other inventory caught fire at Progressive Plants nursery near 7474 Old Bingham Highway — sending black smoke into the air visible for miles — before it was subdued by fire crews shortly thereafter, Unified Fire Authority spokesman David Ulibarri said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no structures or people were threatened, Ulibarri said.
