Police have arrested a man who they say knocked on the door of an apartment, opened fire and killed a man inside the Salt Lake City domicile during a robbery Saturday.

Authorities believe Landon Kavani Johnson, 19, "is the person who shot and killed Eric Padilla" after he knocked on the door of a unit Padilla was in on the north side of Sky Harbor Apartments (221 North Sun Arbor Terrace) on Saturday, Salt Lake City police Sgt. Robin Heiden said Thursday night. He was booked in Salt Lake County jail, according to arrest documents, on one count each of murder and aggravated assault, both first-degree felonies.

Johnson, also known as Landon Tapusoa, was arrested in the Rose Park area Thursday, Heiden said, and had in his possession "some of the items taken in the robbery."

Police are investigating the reason for the killing.
