Police shot a man who was firing a gun inside a strip club Thursday night in West Wendover, Nev.

Then on Friday afternoon, police in Ogden, Utah, identified the wounded man as the suspect in a credit union robbery. That robbery happened about eight hours before the shooting at a Mountain America Credit Union branch in Ogden.

In the Nevada shooting, witnesses said the man was shooting a gun inside the Southern Exposure Club about 8:45 p.m., according to a statement from West Wendover police. When officers arrived, the man fled in a car, which he crashed into a guardrail, police said.

That's when the man began shooting his gun at officers, two of whom returned fire, police said.

After the gunfire stopped, the man continued to move around inside the car and did not follow officers' commands to get out. After 39 minutes, the man left the car and got onto the ground — but he would not show his hands, police said.

Officers took the man into custody and discovered he had been shot in the chest, police said. He also suffered leg injuries; investigators did not know whether those were a result of gunfire or the car crash. He was flown to a hospital in Salt Lake City.
