Provo • It appears that junior receiver O'Neill Chambers' BYU football career is over.

BYU football coach Bronco Mendenhall announced Monday night that the mercurial Chambers has been "suspended indefinitely" due to disciplinary reasons and will not participate with the team for the remainder of the 2010 season.

A school news release did not say whether Chambers will be allowed to return in 2011, if he so desires.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Chambers was suspended for two games earlier this season, also for disciplinary reasons, but was unrepentant upon his return. He said he was punished "for being a competitor" and he also made comments critical of his teammates.

He caught five passes for 48 yards prior to that suspension, but has not had a reception in the two games since then.

He became BYU's career leader in kickoff return yardage last week, with 1,612 yards.
