"Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles"U.S. Documentary competition***The messages have been appearing in cities since the 1980s, mosaic tiles embedded in asphalt: "Toynbee idea in movie 2001 resurrect dead on planet Jupiter." What do they mean? Where do they come from? Artist Justin Duerr tries to find out, and unravels a mystery that probes metaphysics, art, media and the interconnectedness of the universe. Director Jon Foy (who's also the cinematographer, editor and composer) follows Duerr and other Toynbee enthusiasts on the search, and finds a deeper mystery about the way we communicate today. The results are touching.
