Westminster College has selected economist Jin Wang, currently an administrator and professor at a private Florida university, as dean of its Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business.

The move will likely help the private Salt Lake City liberal arts college continue bolstering its ties to China. Wang succeeds John Groesbeck, who returned to teaching in the Gore school.

"Jin brings a global context to the Gore School that is the future of business education," said a statement from James "Cid" Seidelman, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "In addition to helping us navigate the decisions and the direction of the school, we believe he can provide us with additional opportunities with our college's intersections in Asia."

Wang currently serves as associate provost and dean of academic services at the University of Tampa, and previously held a variety of administrative and academic posts at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Rowan University.

He holds a doctorate in economics from Kansas State University and has served as the founding president of the Council of Chinese American Deans and Presidents, board chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay, and as a board member of Sias International University Foundation, the first American university in China.

"We believe Jin will not only be a wonderful addition to the college, but to the business community as well," Seidelman said. "He has great promise with building the types of external partnerships and relationships we need, and has the experience and vision to take our school to the next level of excellence."
