Here's another thing we can thank mobile phones and iPads for — no more waiting in agonizing lines at the local DMV.

The Utah Division of Motor Vehicles announced Thursday that it is now allowing car owners to renew their vehicle registrations through mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads, BlackBerrys and Android phones. Just point the device's mobile Web browser to http://www.renewalexpress.utah.gov.

"We recognize that citizens are busy and are increasingly utilizing mobile technology to conduct business transactions at their convenience," Barry Conover, executive director of the Utah Tax Commission, said in a statement. "In addition, being part of mobile innovation and expansion will also help the DMV realize more efficiencies."
