research • Students at West Haven Elementary School, with the help of America First Credit Union, raised $5,000.30 for the American Cancer Society. The annual West Haven Hawk Walk originated in 2007, when a student decided he wanted to walk in the ACS's Relay for Life fundraiser after learning that a teacher's child had cancer. So many West Haven students wanted to participate, the school launched its own fundraiser. This year, 388 students participated.
