Once again, nobody knows whether Darron Thomas or LaMichael James will play. Once again, though, the high-powered Ducks won't need them or suspended cornerback Cliff Harris against Washington State.
3. Arizona State (5-2, 3-1)
The Sun Devils come off a bye looking at a much easier second-half schedule, with only one of five opponents boasting a winning record. Can you say, "Pac-12 South Champion?"
4. USC (6-1, 3-1)
The Trojans go from win at Notre Dame to showdown with Stanford, but could be hamstrung by run game that ranks only 65th nationally, with fewer rushing touchdowns than all but six other teams.
5. Washington (5-2, 3-1)
All that worry about the Husky defense? Oh, it's back, and an upcoming schedule that includes three of the most dangerous offenses in the league (Arizona, Oregon and USC) won't help.
6. Cal (4-3, 1-3)
Four wins have come over Fresno, Colorado, Presbyterian (!) and Utah, so it's probably not yet time to get too excited about quarterback Zach Maynard and the Golden Bears.
7. Oregon State (2-5, 2-2)
Back from the dead? The Beavers have won two of their last three after an 0-4 start, with quarterback Sean Mannion settling in and key players recovering from injuries.
8. Washington State (3-4, 1-3)
School newspaper calls for the head of coach Paul Wulff, whose Cougars have lost three straight heading to Oregon, possibly without injured (again) quarterback Jeff Tuel.
9. Arizona (2-5, 1-4)
Blowout of UCLA sure felt good in first game after firing coach Mike Stoops, but now the Wildcats must face Washington without most of their secondary, suspended for fighting with the Bruins.
10. UCLA (3-4, 2-2)
That miserable performance on national television including the fight that led to six suspensions for the Cal game probably sealed the grim fate of beleaguered coach Rick Neuheisel.
11. Utah (3-4, 0-4)
The season is fast becoming a disaster for the Utes, who can't do anything right and don't have much flexibility to make changes. Thank heaven they have Colorado on the schedule.
12. Colorado (1-7, 0-4)
The Buffs rank among the nation's worst in most stat categories, have been outscored 145-33 the last three weeks.
