ohGr performs tonight.

Spotlight show • Ogre is best-known for being a founder of pioneering industrial-rock band Skinny Puppy, but this December he is embarking on a tour by his similarly hard-edged side project, ohGr. In an interview, Ogre (born Kevin Graham Ogilvie 49 years ago) said that touring "gives me a sense of worth, to be blunt." ohGr has more of a single-minded music focus than the theatrical Skinny Puppy, he said, and the theme of its most recent album is that "we're in a strange world, dealing with things we have never thought about before." One of those themes is the narcissism of music stars, which is why the 911 call reporting Michael Jackson's death is sampled on ohGr's album. "It is about celebrity where people never say no, where you basically kill yourself," Ogre said. He added that the 911 call reminds me of "bloated carcasses that float through life." But Ogre doesn't mean to disparage Jackson. "I feel bad for him," Ogre said. "He was living a lifestyle that was unlivable."
