Veteran point guard Earl Watson is still in play for the Utah Jazz, agent Mark Bartelstein told The Salt Lake Tribune on Thursday.

Bartelstein plans to talk with Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor on Friday to determine how Watson fits into Utah's 2011-12 picture.

"We've been having serious talks with the Jazz," Bartelstein said. "Kevin and I are going to talk again ... and I'm hoping we're going to work something out."

The Jazz will soon add veteran point guard Jamaal Tinsley, The Tribune learned Thursday. However, Utah has often kept two backup point guards, Tinsley hasn't played in the NBA since 2009-10 and Watson has often said the Jazz are his first choice.

Asked if Watson could sign Friday with Utah if discussions with O'Connor went well, Bartelstein responded: "I think it'd be great if we can work out a deal, but it's tough to say until you get to that point."

Watson, 32, averaged 4.3 points and 3.5 assists during 80 games (13 starts) for Utah last season.
