Ogden police have arrested a man suspected of murder in the death of his girlfriend's nearly 3-month-old daughter.

The baby suffered apparent abuse-related injuries at a home on the 2600 block of Van Buren and was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital about 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 14, said Ogden police Lt. Mike Ashment.

She was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center, where doctors put her on life support, and she died about 9:30 p.m. that night. Police investigated and on Monday arrested 35-year-old Jeremy David Marshall on suspicion of first-degree felony murder. Investigators are waiting for medical examiner's reports in the case.

The child, named Kennedy Lucille "Baby K" Marshall, "was a gorgeous little girl with a pure and angelic spirit" who loved her pink giraffe, according to her obituary.

Her mother, Afton Moneypenny, posted about her child's death on her Facebook page.

"Who would murder a sweet baby girl named kennedy ... jeremy marshall did. I am so hurt, pissed actually livid, my heart is broken. I don't think I can do it anymore. I'm dead and numb inside," she posted on Dec. 22.

She expressed concern about Marshall posting bail, but told her Facebook friends she didn't think anyone would post his $20,000 bail.

"Justice will be served, it's starting to begin. Jeremy Marshall is now in jail custody. I feel lighter, like, well I can't describe it," she posted on Monday. "Mama loves you baby K xoxoxox."
