Firefighters extinguished a blaze Thursday night at a duplex in Magna.

One side of a duplex at 7366 W. Copperview Drive (2685 South) had fire and smoke shooting from the roof and second floor of the home, said Steve Ball, paramedic for the Unified Fire Authority.

"Our guys did a really good job with the stop, and it didn't involve the other side of the duplex," Ball said.

When crews arrived just before 7 p.m., they saw flames shooting from the roof. They were able to get the fire mostly extinguished in about 10 minutes, and then spent more time putting out hot spots on the roof.

No one was home at the time of the fire, though fire crews said residents were trying to save valuables from the home.

There was no damage estimate or cause of the fire by Thursday night.

No one was injured in the blaze.
