"That's What She Said"

Anne Heche noted that last year's breakout comedy "Bridesmaids" "definitely knocked down some barriers," as she introduced Sundance's NEXT feature "That's What She Said," decribing it as a "filthy and raunchy crazy chick ride of three friends having a wild day in New York." In describing her film, director Carrie Preston may have finally put a name to this burgeoning genre of raucous girlfriend movies: the "pussy comedy." Suffice to say "That's What She Said" includes drunken humor, an "assault with a dildo," according to Heche, vaginal itching and the obligatory vomiting scene. Unfortunately, "She Said's" sum is less than its sloppy parts. Heche's comedic instincts need refinement and the script, which was originally a play, doesn't quite make the transition to the screen. On the upside, the climactic ending of "That's What She Said" offers more darkness, yet more heart, than anything in "Bridesmaids."
