A 19-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle rollover late Sunday night the third fatality this weekend on Utah's roadways.
Tasia R. Hymas, of Salt Lake City, was a backseat passenger in a car that was driving on 2700 N. Droubay Road in Erda at about 10:30 p.m. The car came up an incline and crossed railroad tracks, and then began heading down about a 2 percent grade, said Lt. Jeff Morgan of the Tooele County Sheriff's Office. The car hit a patch of black ice and rolled about four times, ejecting the woman, who apparently was not wearing a seat belt.
The posted speed limit is 45 mph, but weather conditions created hazardous conditions at that speed, Morgan said.
