Tensions between a Logan man and his landlord culminated this week when the tenant allegedly torched the trailer he was living in, destroying it and killing his own pet cat in the process, police said Thursday.

The 40-year-old was arrested on suspicion of first-degree aggravated arson and three misdemeanor counts including intoxication and cruelty to animals.

Tensions stemming from nonpayment of rent came to a boil at the mobile home park at 447 W. 1700 South in Logan on Tuesday.

Logan Assistant Police Chief Jeff Curtis said the man allegedly started drinking and decided to use an accelerant to set fire to the RV he was renting from his landlord. The tenant was not injured.

The man was booked into the Cache County jail.
