With great spring weather in the offing and extended daylight, Salt Lake's Gallery Stroll on Friday, April 20, should be well attended. Here are some picks:
Utah Museum of Contemporary Art • The Sundance Festive New Frontier exhibition of artists who push the limits of video and digital technology will be winding up its run May 19. This is a good time to see it, putting an end to your artistic procrastination. While you're at the UMOCA, take in Constant Dullaart's "Onomatopoeia" and Elizabeth Tobias' "Let Them Eat Cupcakes." Williams Fine Art • If you're not into that subversive contemporary art thing, consider viewing the work of sculptor and oil painter Dennis Smith, who focuses on "recollections of life in rural Utah." 200 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, 801-534-0331.
Art Access • Margaret Tarampi is offering what she calls "gestalt portraits," a new take on op-art. And in the Access II Gallery, Shirley Tegan's wooden sculptures will throw your perception into question. 230 S. 500 West, Salt Lake City, 328-0703.
Art at the Main • Joan Zone is offering a new collection of whimsical watercolors of cows, sheep, rabbits and landscapes. Ground floor of the Main City Library, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City, 801-363-4088.
Phillips Gallery • With the title "Presenting Four Old Geezers, One Last Hurrah," Utah relics Deral Barton, Earl Jones, Denis Phillips and Tony Smith offer an exhibition of paintings, drawings and ceramics. 444 E. 200 South, 801-364-8284.
Rio Gallery • "Untitled" serves up 30 untitled artworks by 30 artists. The viewers are asked to provide the titles, which creates an irreverent and fun exhibition, especially for kids. 300 S. Rio Grande, Salt Lake City, 801-533-3582.
