H. David Burton, the former presiding bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was appointed Thursday to the board of directors of the Utah Transit Authority by Gov. Gary Herbert.
Burton, who helped shepherd the City Creek Center and the Salt Lake City Main Street Plaza projects, among other things, held the position of presiding bishop for 16 years.
He previously had served as a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric and was a budget officer for the LDS Church. In addition, he has held posts at the Utah Tax Commission and Kennecott Utah Copper.
