Draper • As a high school soccer program that has been in existence for only five seasons, the Manti Templars were in unchartered territory Friday as they faced off against Layton Christian Academy in the Class 2A soccer semifinals.
After trailing early, the Templars scored three unanswered goals two from Carlo Garcia in a superb second half of soccer to win 3-1. Manti now will play on the biggest stage, and for the ultimate prize, Saturday when it meets St. Joseph at Rio Tinto Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
"This feels amazing," said junior midfielder Carlo Garcia. "We've all been dreaming about this since the beginning of the year and it just took a lot of determination to get us here."
