Utah landed a quarterback for the future Tuesday, when Conner Manning from El Toro High School in El Toro, Calif., reportedly committed to Kyle Whittingham's program.

"My plan going in was, if I liked the campus and felt comfortable with the coaches, I was going to commit," Manning told Scout.com. "I had some other schools looking at me as well but I felt good about Utah and they had been recruiting me harder than anyone so there was no need for me to wait on making a decision."

According to Scout, Manning is the No. 65-rated QB in the class of 2013. He is the second Orange County quarterback to commit to the Utes in two years after Travis Wilson signed with Utah last year.

At 6-foot-2, Manning threw for 4,129 yards and 41 touchdowns as a junior. His yard total eclipsed USC's Matt Barkley as Orange County's single season passing-yards leader. With Manning, El Toro finished 12-2 last season and earned a berth in the CIF Southern Secion Southwest finals.

Manning was the second target to commit to the Utes this week after Texas three-star lineman Sam Tevi chose Utah over a number of schools, including BYU.
