Utah football added another member to its 2014 recruiting class on Monday when it received a commitment from Kearns' Amone Finau.
The Utes recruited Finau as a running back, but also plays slot receiver, defensive back and safety for the Cougars, coach Bill Cosper said.
"He won't come off the field very much at all," he said of the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder.
A rising junior, Finau played limitedly for Kearns last year, but Cosper said he caught Utah coaches' eyes at the Ute Shoot and also was impressive at the All-Poly camp in June.
Cosper said the Utes may have gotten a head start on Finau thanks to first-year assistant coach Ilaisa Tuiaki, who previously spent two years as an assistant at Kearns.
It was a quick commitment for Finau, who has not yet played a full varsity season.
"I think he wants to be close to home," Cosper said. "I don't know for sure if that's where he's always wanted to play, but I would think with all his family here he would probably want to stay close to home. I think he was excited by it."
