One of two brothers injured in a rollover accident on Interstate 15 near St. George remained in "extremely critical" condition on Thursday, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said the 18-year-old driver apparently fell asleep just before 8 a.m. Wednesday as his southbound car passed mile post 8. The vehicle went off the right shoulder, rolled and struck a power pole.

Both the driver and his 15-year-old brother, who was a passenger, were initially transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center. While the 18-year-old sustained only minor injuries, his brother, who was ejected as the car rolled, sustained life-threatening injuries. The younger boy, accompanied by his brother, was later flown to a hospital in Las Vegas.

The boys' names were not released.
