Two Sevier County teenagers were behind bars Thursday, the day after they were arrested following a series of all-terrain vehicle and pickup truck thefts.
Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis said the suspects, both 18-year-old males, allegedly stole several ATVs last month. On Wednesday, the duo were found at a grandparent's home in Gunnison and taken into custody by local police.
Curtis said the suspects had earlier fled their Central Valley home Tuesday afternoon when deputies arrived to serve a search warrant.
"During the night [they] stole a truck at a farm on State Road 119, east of Richfield. They went into the town of Glenwood and stole another pickup, ditching the first truck behind the Glenwood Town Office building. The two then took off in the second stolen vehicle. They were in the second stolen vehicle when they were apprehended," Curtis said.
The pair, allegedly involved in a "chop shop" stolen parts operation, were booked into Sevier County Jail on suspicion of multiple counts of felony motor vehicle theft.
