• NBC ended its coverage of the London Summer Olympics the way it started: By ticking off viewers with a stupid tape-delay choice. Besides cutting out performances by The Kinks' Ray Davies and Muse's Matt Bradley, the network postponed the end of the closing ceremony — featuring The Who — to air the debut of a crappy new sitcom, "Animal Practice," and the local news. • Al Freeman Jr., best known for playing Nation of Islam founder Elijah Mohammed in Spike Lee's "Malcolm X," has died at the age of 78. Freeman also starred for 15 years on "One Life to Live," one of the first African-American actors to star in a major soap opera. [UPI]
