The Westminster College Chamber Orchestra is holding auditions for the fall 2012 semester on my birthday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. in the Jewett Center for the Performing Arts.

Westminster students, faculty and staff, as well as community members, are encouraged to audition. I would audition, but, as I mentioned before, it is my birthday, and I am planning on dragging my wife to Chuck-A-Rama, a Brazilian steakhouse, or Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant, all restaurants she won't join me at on the other 364 days of the year. Auditioners are asked to "join the Rebel Alliance in performing music from Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back," although "Being a sci-fi geek is not a prerequisite for participation!"To reserve an audition time, contact Dr. Brandon Derfler at bderfler@westminstercolleg.edu.

For more information, visit the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/westminsterchamberorchestra or the Music Department website at http://www.westminstercollege.edu/music.

I would say that music from the cantina scene would be appreciated, but, then again, I am not a judge and I will not be at the audition. Plus, I believe that would be very hard for a chamber musician to play.
