Former Layton Christian High basketball star Will Beard isn't done playing basketball, even if he had to take last year off due to torn ligaments in his ankle. Beard, who graduated from LCA in 2009, will play for Medicine Hat College in Alberta, Canada, this coming season. He has two years of college basketball eligibility remaining. Beard was a two-year starter for Wenatchee Valley (Wash.) College after graduating from LCA, then sat out last year. He played point guard for one of the best teams in WVC history. "It has been a long, tough road through injury but I plan on having a great career in Canada, and then who knows from there?" Beard said. He's the son of Tanoka Beard, one of the top prep basketball players in state history. Tanoka Beard played on some of the great Bonneville High teams under the late Gary Alverson and eventually landed at Boise State, where he set several school scoring records. Tanoka played professionally in Europe for nearly 20 years.
