A woman was injured and transported by medical helicopter after colliding with a South Salt Lake Fire Engine at an intersection Friday.

South Salt Lake Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Bowman said the accident occurred as one of the city's fire engines was en route to a report of a structure fire in West Valley City just before 5:30 p.m.

A woman driving a car with two children inside went through the intersection at 3300 South and 1200 West and crashed into the fire engine heading west.

The woman was transported to the hospital in unknown condition. The two children were taken by ambulance as a precaution and were in "good condition," Bowman said.

West Valley City police were still investigating the accident scene at 10 p.m.
