Class 5A

1. Jordan • Demolishing Fremont should bode well for this title contender

2. Bingham • A 28-0 win wasn't perfect, but Miners should shape up

3. Syracuse • The Titans didn't have much problem putting Desert Hills away

4. Alta • Showed character by eeking out a road win over Timpview

5. Cottonwood • Sat this week, but should get a good early test versus Logan

Class 4A

1. East • Passing game has kinks, but Ula Tolutau is a real-deal runner

2. Herriman • Dominated Orem after a back-and-forth first quarter

3. Bountiful • Braves already in postseason form against Lone Peak

4. Timpview • Gutty performance in a loss by the T-birds to Alta

5. Logan • Unfortunate injury pileup will hurt the Grizzlies' title defense

Class 3A

1. Hurricane • Third straight win over Skyline shows Tigers are tough

2. Juan Diego • Snuck by Salem Hills, but there's work to be done here

3. Dixie • Blake Barney accounted for nearly 400 yards of offense

4. Stansbury • Rushing offense was scary good against Uintah

5. Spanish Fork • On defense, allowed only 66 yards by Park City

Class 2A

1. San Juan • Barkley Christensen looking comfortable at the controls

2. Manti • Surprising how easily Templars knocked off the Rabbits

3. Emery • Fortunate to survive a shootout with Richfield

4. South Summit • Showed power with an expected win against Altamont

5. Millard • Pounded the Rams in this opening week tune-up

Class 1A

1. Duchesne • Still waiting for the two-time champs to take the field

2. Layton Christian • Kitt Rawlings era gets off to a good start with win

3. Monticello • With loads of starters back, should be good to go

4. Rich • Rebels have much to prove after their 2011 struggles

5. Summit Academy • Stomped Milford, but better competition awaits
