Here's what's being talked about today in pop culture:

• Filmmaker Tony Scott committed suicide Sunday, jumping off a bridge over Los Angeles Harbor. He was 68. Scott was famous for big, energetic action movies, including "Top Gun," "Days of Thunder," "True Romance," "Crimson Tide," "Man on Fire" and "Unstoppable." [Los Angeles Times]

• "The Expendables 2" took the top spot at the box office this weekend. [Box Office Mojo]

• Between 20 and 25 staffers of "The Tonight Show" were laid off Friday, and host Jay Leno took a $10 million pay cut to keep more from being fired. [The New York Times]
