O.A.R.

Spotlight show • Montage Deer Valley will premiere its first Concert in the Sky, with O.A.R. and Guster sharing the outdoor stage on the resort's Grand Lawn. Rock band O.A.R. is a road warrior, touring behind its 2011 album "King." The band is remarkable for its longevity, with four of the members from the same middle and high schools in Ohio; the fifth joined in 1997 when all five were students at The Ohio State University. "I can't imagine being in a different band," said Richard On, lead guitarist. "It's such a foreign thing for me, [to be] playing in different bands." The band's most recent exposure came from a song called "Champions" that was part of Duracell's support for Team USA at the Summer Olympics. Rapper B.o.B. contributed vocals to the song, which isn't as jarring as you might think. "We're all hip-hop fans," On said. And while he is a fan of the USA basketball team, On said the 2012 team was "not better than the [original] Dream Team, no matter what Kobe says." Ohio State fans know their sports.

Hank III

Spotlight show • See the relatively early starting time for the concert by Hank Williams III? That's because the 39-year-old grandson of Hank Williams and son of Hank Williams Jr. plays until he can't stand up anymore. "I wear any audience out," Hank III said in an interview. "If you have 65 songs, sometimes we lose half the crowd, and that's punk-rock." The "hellbilly" said on this tour he is playing about 90 minutes of country at first, and then several hours of the genre-defying rock he is also known for. "I take pride in having the longest show for the cheapest price," he said. "I have the rest of my life to just play an hour on an acoustic guitar." In 2011, Hank III released three albums on the same day (Sept. 6), including one that consisted largely of cattle auctioneers with metal accompanying. "My grandfather used to raise cows and cattle," Hank III said. "It was an honor to work with those guys. I tell them they won't like the music."

Margaret Cho

Spotlight show • Last time the comedian performed in Utah, plenty of people who were "super clean" and had "super clean teeth" told her they went to Korea on their missions. Well, she was born in San Francisco, but she still appreciated the niceties she encountered in Utah, Cho said in an interview. This time, the openly bisexual 43-year-old is bringing her one-woman show called "Mother," where she will talk about the lovable eccentricities of her mother (a tried-and-true favorite from her stand-up routines) as well as talk about motherhood in general. Cho is not a mother herself, but said she feels very "maternal" in the stand-up community. On Sept. 23, she will bring her mother and brother to the Emmy Awards, where she is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for playing, of all people, the late Kim Jong-Il on "30 Rock." "I am of North Korean and South Korean descent, and it's a painful part of my family history," Cho said. "My goal is to win the Emmy and unite the countries."
