We knew that Rep. Jim Matheson is a popular Utah moderate Democratic politician who has been elected six consecutive times to Congress in GOP-dominated districts, but many didn't realize he was that good and powerful back East as well.

That can be the only reasonable explanation why so many Republican national heavy hitters are campaigning for his newest opponent, Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love, including, Sen. John McCain, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and House Speaker John Boehner.

And Love is getting all this attention at the national GOP convention in Tampa, Fla.

Matheson's prominence back in Utah certainly has gone up as well. He must be doing something right to merit all this consideration to get him replaced.
