Both major political parties invigorated their campaigns in Salt Lake County as Labor Day weekend came to an end.

On Wednesday, Democrats scheduled a "Meet the Candidate" night and fundraiser at the Riverton home of precinct chairwoman Lavonne Maloney, bringing together 24 candidates for congressional, legislative, state and Salt Lake County offices. The group included County Mayor hopeful Ben McAdams.

His opponent in November's general election, Republican Mark Crockett, scheduled his official campaign kickoff for 7 p.m. Thursday at 2727 W. 3500 South in West Valley City.
